Not Alone (mini series - 5/5): When you serve in the US Military, service members retire/finish their contracts, in a lot of cases mess up either physically or mentally and many times both. Sometimes, some don't come out at all ('Til Valhalla). Even though there are a lot of "Thank you for your service, '' sometimes it's just empty words. Vets end up homeless or part of the dreadfull 22. Too often, family and friends want to help but fail to grasp the fact that the person they once knew (prior to joining the service) is now beneath many layers of f****d traumatic experiences. I've heard the words" you were perfect" . What happened to you? It's hard to explain to civilians, even those next of kin because we omit a lot of details. So next time you thank a veteran for his/her service, take a second and ask about his/her day. That means a lot more.

The color choice (red, white & blue) is to honor our great nation. The red in the eyes is the tears of blood we cry in silence.

Details: Original mixed media work (acrylic, charcoal, pencil), cradle panel (1/2"), 6x6 inches (edges painted black), framed (1.5") with ⅛ gap, ready to hang
